My name is Leslie DeLong, I am a licensed psychologist and a graduate of the University of Kansas, where I received my PhD in Counseling Psychology. My pre-doctoral internship was completed at the University of Missouri, where I enjoyed working with college students and treating a variety of presenting concerns, with a specialty focus area in the treatment of eating concerns. I received two years of training at a community mental health center providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), providing individual and group therapy to individuals experiencing crises related to depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and personality disorders. I identify as a generalist and have experience treating a wide range of presenting concerns in various settings (i.e., university counseling centers, VA, community mental health centers). I place significant value on the development of the therapeutic relationship and want the people I work with to feel safety and trust in session.
It can be difficult to take those first steps to start counseling services, and I believe that finding someone who is a good fit for you is such an important part of the therapeutic process. My first priority is always the working relationship that I have with my clients, and my style is very warm and collaborative in nature. My hope for your therapy process is to work together to identify goals, engage in self-exploration, and make the changes that you want to see in your life. I feel that it is my job to provide a safe environment for you to grow and learn more about yourself, and to build trust to begin making those changes!
If you are interested in therapy services and would like to see if we might work well together, give me a call and I would be happy to chat with you about your hopes for therapy!
Please contact me with any questions you have, or if you would like to chat and see if services are the right fit for you.
